Hobart Airport Project: SAMI Bitumen Containers in Action
These containers are designed exclusively for SAMI, they have a capacity of 32,000L, and feature efficient heat-retention, low tare weight, and baffles. This enables partial load deliveries and prevents the sloshing of hot bitumen, allowing us to transport bitumen to remote areas effectively. This capability is crucial as we work to manage projects where storage and transport options are limited, particularly in Tasmania and the Northern Territory.
The containers journeyed from SAMI Laverton to the Port of Hobart. They were initially trucked through Melbourne, sailed from the mainland to Tasmania, and then transported by rail from Burnie to Hobart, followed by a short truck haul from the rail terminal to the port.
This approach not only optimised our logistics but also reduced our carbon footprint by favouring rail transport over trucking within Tasmania. Additionally, we have dedicated personnel on-site JR Bright, doing a great job managing the containers, ensuring a solution that is tailor-made for the specific needs of this project. While our bitumen containers were in transit to Hobart, a fireworks display popped up behind them, a very memorable photo opportunity!

The use of these containers not only supports our service delivery but also helps us penetrate new markets, opening doors to additional revenue streams. With the SBCUs, we can offer our clients reliable access to bitumen, ensuring that their needs are met even in challenging locations. As we move forward, we remain focused on practical solutions that enhance our operations and
customer service.
